Prof. Shams Tabrez received his Ph.D degree in Biochemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, India, in 2010. Currently, he is working as a Full Professor of Biochemistry at King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University. He has published more than 200 articles in the journals of International repute. Prof. Shams has accomplished over 30 research projects as a “PI and COI” funded by different funding agencies with a total approved budget of > 1.33 million $. His current research is “Targeted delivery of cancer nano-chemoprevention agents“

Name: Sayed Sartaj Sohrab

Designation: Professor

Prof. Sayed Sartaj Sohrab completed M.Sc from Aligarh Muslim University and Ph.D from Jamia Millia Islamia. He Joined King Fahd Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah in Feb 2012. He has 19 years of experience in molecular Virology/Microbiology of both human and plant viruses. He has 24 projects (Running/completed) funded by different funding agencies. He has published more than 110 research papers in ISI listed scientific journals. He has 2  USA patent. He got the best poster award at the “9th International Virology Congress and Expo” London, UK in 2017.

 

Name: Dr. Syed Kashif Zaidi

Designation: Associate Professor

Research: Endocrinology, Neurosciences, Cancer

Dr. Syed Kashif Zaidi is an Associate Professor at King Abdulaziz University’s Institute of Genomic Medicine Sciences, with over 20 years of expertise in teaching and research. His work focuses on neurological and endocrine disorders, especially developing animal models to study stroke and aging. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Aligarh Muslim University and completed a postdoc at Stanford University, where he studied the StAR protein’s role in steroid production during aging. Currently, his research targets neurovascular disorders like ischemic stroke, aiming to translate findings into therapies. He has authored over 70 publications, holds US patents in stroke treatment, and has secured more than 6 million SAR in research grants.

 

Name: Dr. Absarul Haque

Dr. Haque is an Associate Professor at King Fahad Medical Research Center, King Abdulaziz University, specializing in cancer biology. With a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and post-doctoral experience in the USA, his research focuses on tumor genetics, chemoresistance, and targeted therapies. He has led projects worth over SAR 5 million and has numerous publications and patents in cancer treatment innovations.

 

Name: Dr. Mohammad Asad

Designation: Associate Professor

Research: Organic/Green/Medicinal/Chemistry, antimicrobial /anticancer drug development.

Dr. Mohammad Asad is an Associate Professor at CEAMR, King Abdulaziz University since 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from AMU, India, and has over 30 years of research and teaching experience, including international stints in France and Malaysia. His expertise includes organic and biomaterials, sustainable materials, bioactive compounds, and eco-friendly synthesis. With over 75 publications and participation in numerous conferences, Dr. Asad is dedicated to advancing green chemistry and biomedical materials.

 

Name: Dr. Abrar Ahmad

Designation: Associate Professor

Research: Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biodesulfurization/Biosensor/Cancer Biology/Nanotechnology

Dr. Abrar Ahmad has been serving at KAU since 2019 after getting PhD Jamia Hamdard/CSIR-IITR, Lucknow in 2015. Previously he had taught at BBAU-Lucknow for two years and at MAJU-Rampur for one year from 2015-2017 and 2018-2019 respectively. He had qualified various national level exams like JRF-CSIR, JRF-ICMR and GATE exams in 2007.  He has published several research papers in high repute and ranked journals along with several book chapters in various edited books. He has finished major and minor projects in KAU. Many more current projects are underway to be completed.

 

Name: Mohammad Imran Khan

Designation: Senior Scientist & Team Leader

Institute: King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC)

Research: Translational Multiomics

Dr. Khan obtained his PhD in Medical Biochemistry (2012) from Medical Biochemistry Department, JNMC, AMU, Aligarh. After this, he moved USA to do his PostDoc Fellowship. In 2016 he joined KAUST as Senoir fellow and moved to KAU and stayed till 2023. In late, 2023 Dr. Khan joined the prestigious KFSH&RC. Dr. Khan lab focuses on translational mutliomcs and therapeutics development. His lab uses cutting edge molecular biology tools, machine learning and big data analytics. Dr. Khan mentored many PhD, MS, BS and Mohiba students.

Name: Mohammad Oves

Designation: Associate Professor

Research: Environmental Microbiology and Nanotechnology, Microplastic and Decontamination technology

Dr. Mohammad Oves is an Associate Professor at King Abdulaziz University, specializing in environmental and medical microbiology, bio-nanotechnology, and bioremediation. With a Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, he is renowned for pioneering biofabrication of nanomaterials to combat resistant pathogens and environmental issues using experimental and AI methods. Recognized among the Top 2% Scientists globally (2022–2024), he has secured numerous research grants and mentors students in microbial-nanomaterial interactions, sustainability, bioenergy, and AI applications in bioscience.

Name: Dr. Mohammad Zubair Alam

Designation: Associate Professor

Research: cuprizone mouse model of multiple sclerosis

He holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University and has been with KFMRC at King Abdulaziz University-Jeddah since March 2012. His research focuses on the cuprizone mouse model of multiple sclerosis, exploring the effects of natural products combined with standard drugs. He also studies MDR mechanisms and chemotherapy response in ovarian cancer, as well as antibiotic resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii and Enterobacteriaceae, particularly ESBLs like CTX-M.

Dr. Naved Azum completed MSc and PhD from Aligarh Muslim University. He Joined Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in September 2011. Already, he has 16 years of experience in surface science. He has successfully completed more than 40 projects funded by different funding agencies. He has published more than 200 research papers in ISI listed scientific journals.

Dr. Malik Abdul Rub accomplished MSc and PhD from Aligarh Muslim University. He Joined Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in October 2011. He has 15 years of experience in colloid and interface science. He has fruitfully finalized more than 25 projects funded by different KAU funding agencies. He has published more than 300 research papers in ISI listed scientific journals.

 

Name: Dr. Aftab Aslam Parwaz Khan

Dr. Aftab Aslam Parwaz Khan, Associate Professor at King Abdulaziz University, is in the top 2% of the world’s scientists (2022-2024). He has authored 8 books, 40 chapters, over 250 papers, and holds 2 patents. He serves on the Editorial Board of Frontier Chemistry and reviews for top international journals. His research focuses on advanced photocatalytic materials for pollution treatment and bio-waste-based activated carbon for pollutant adsorption.

 

Name: Dr. Mohammad Omaish Ansari

Dr. Mohammad Omaish Ansari holds a PhD in Applied Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, specializing in conducting polymers and carbon-based materials for gas sensing, renewable energy, wastewater treatment, and hydrogen production. He is an Associate Professor at King Abdulaziz University’s Center of Nanotechnology, supervising students and managing advanced characterization techniques. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Yeungnam University in South Korea. He has published over 150 research articles.
